Blog Topics...

Dear Friends,
On this blog, we would like to offer simple strategies and information about current practices in education that enhance our student's learning.  We will cover a variety of topics in this blog and through a monthly newsletter too.  Below is a brief list of some of the topics we will cover.
We feel very lucky to work with talented teachers who are already employing these strategies within their classrooms and parents who are working with their students too.  We find that these tools, styles, and strategies can bring out the very best learner in all of us.  In the coming months you will see topics such as:
  • Homework Helpers
  • Frameworks for Learning: Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles
  • Study Skills, Time Management, Notetaking, Study Habits
  • Test Taking Strategies and Relaxation Strategies for Test Success
  • Understanding the Learning Differences Between Boys and Girls
  • Boost Your Memory Power
  • Understanding the Power of Brain-Based Learning
  • Social Media and Our Local and Global Connection
  • Positive Psychology, Self- Care, and Resilience
Thank you and we look forward to working with you and your students!

Sincerely,

Being a Learning Specialist...

Dear Friends,
Many people ask, "What does a Learning Specialist do?"  This is a good question because the position has a variety of tasks that reach from the individual student to looking at the larger picture of scope and sequence of curriculum.  Our job is also to understand learning differences and strategies to help students and to work with parents, teachers and the larger educational community.  Our goal is to empower students to enhance their own learning in the way that is right for them.
We look forward to working with you.  Thank you for all you do to support our students!
Sincerely,
Kimberly Borin and Kim Turse
